FAQ Preguntas Hinchables
Are inflatable buildings secure?
Yes, they are secure. We use treated fabrics that enable flame-proof technology. The membrane is amazingly strong, nevertheless if intentionally cut, the constantly working air-turbines provide stability to the structure and the repair kit allows our customer a quick fix to these situations, and even if the damage was great, the structure is quite light (300gr/m2 apx.) and it would rarely compromise the security of the visitors. Low pressure inflatable structures are enormously secure, moreover if the basic guidelines are followed.
What is the ecological impact?
It is very low in comparison to most of other temporary or membrane structures. One of the main reason is the use of air instead of metal or wooden structures.
We invite you to read the following report (PDF) that states how ecologically fit are our structures. Click here
Our inflatable buildings require amazingly little energy. A single air-motor uses around 300W/h, the total energy would depend on the size of the inflatable building and the number of motors within.
Are they noisy?
In our inflatable buildings, we use sophisticate air-motor blowers made in Germany. These turbines are plastic structured which enable really low noise levels. There is also the possibility to use custom silencers that lower the noise even more.
Currently, the air-motors produce a 77dB noise level at a 10cm distance.
How you mantain straight such a structure?
Our inflatable structures are basically composed of a membrane (composite fabrics) and air. It's the air injected into the structure what enables the stability and resistance of the structure. We have developed specific software that allows our engineers to make every possible calculation for all the air-pressure requirements to gain maximum security and stability even with adverse weather conditions.
How long does it take to set-up an inflatable building?
The set-up times depend obviously on the size of the inflatable structure. For instance, a 36m2 inflatable building is set up in less than half an hour, and a 650m2 in about 3 hours. It also depends on the design and the place it is supposed to be installed over. Simple inflatable forms or buildings reduce set-up times, making an 800m2 structure installable in less than 2 hrs.
How much time does it take to be completely inflated?
From the moment you start-up the air-motors, the inflatable building will take between 3 to 15 min. Air-blowing or inflation of our structures is really fast.

Should I worry about the wind?
In Buildair, our main concern is SECURITY. For that reason we are constantly investigating and developing our textile-structure-simulation technology, so we are able to make calculations for every possible situation and enable the security and resistance that our inflatable buildings require. We are able to calculate the proper textile strength, the weight loads and every single factor that influences the security against wind, weather and other externalities. This calculations are part of a Technical document that may be revised and signed by the corresponding professional authorities or faculties and that we offer as a service to our customers.
Is it possible to customize or personalize an inflatable structure?
Yes, of course. One of the many forms in which we make our projects is through personalization. Our inflatable structures are completely customized to meet the wishes of our customers, having in mind functionality and the objective or idea that our client wants to communicate. With our technology, form and size have no limits. We have designed and produced inflatable structures bigger than 2.000m2.
When and how was Buildair created?
Buildair is like a spin-off from a very prestigious venture, CIMNE (International Center of Numerical Models in Engineering)/ UPC (Technological University of Catalonia). The CIMNE is a technological center specializing in the computerized mathematical simulation of physical processes and phenomena. They are specialists developing software for design and industry use.
Buildair was created in year 2001 with the ending of a European project with the mission of creating and using in specific aeronautic technology and applying it to architecture, industrial design and civil engineering. Huge zeppelins. Once the project ended, Buildair was created to transfer this technology to the market, and we do that through our inflatable structures.
How is Buildair's team formed?
We have the pleasure to count with a multi-disciplinary multi-national team of engineers, architects, designers and marketing specialists that help us create our unique projects always considering the most important requirements of each sector and customer.
