Buildair is like a spin-off from a very prestigious venture, CIMNE (International Center of Numerical Models in Engineering)/ UPC (Technological University of Catalonia). The CIMNE is a technological center specializing in the computerized mathematical simulation of physical processes and phenomena. They are specialists developing software for design and industry use.

Buildair was created in year 2001 with the ending of a European project with the mission of creating and using in specific aeronautic technology and applying it to architecture, industrial design and civil engineering.
